Welcome Sam Gudilin to Illo Agency!
Another new member of the team to welcome to the Illo family, this week we have Russian artist Sam Gudilin on board and we did a little Q&A with him to find out more about his inspirations, style and hobbies. Sam has a very defined comic book style to his artwork, and we love the expression and colours that are present within his work.
Keep reading our Q&A session with her earlier this month ...
Q: Can we ask who you would consider as some of your favourite illustrators?
A: Jemmy Hewlett is my favourite among artists, his drawing style is very inspirating to me. I also really like the work of Ashley Wood and Jim Mahfood.
Q: So how would you describe your style, in your own words ...
A: My style copies comic style with clear contours. I don't try and initate realism and I try to make all my work more caricatured. I enjoy adding torn lines, dust and splinters to emphasise the dynamics and introduce negligence.
Q: When you're not illustrating, what do you get up to in your spare time?
A: I travel, draw, read, ride a bike, play drums and play basketball.
Q: What is your favourite thing to illustrate?
A: Crazy characters, black humour, girls with a strong character and active sports, mainly skateboarding.
Q: Why did you want to sign with Illo?
A: I really like the artwork from the artists Illo represents, and also the mission of the Agency.
Thank you Sam for taking the time to give us a bit more of an insight into the artist behind the beauitful artwork. To work with Sam, check out some more of his work before getting in touch with one of our Illo-agents who can bring your project to life.
