meet our new signing - Dunni Mustapha!
Londoner, Dunni, is a graphic designer and illustrator with over 10 years industry experience. She likes to combine these two mediums to create imaginative branding that has a little bit of fun and magic - perfect for a character based editorial feature or advertising campaign.
Our Illo agents caught up with her before the Christmas break ...
Q: Welcome to Illo Agency, Dunni! You've been illustrating for 10 years now, but how did you begin this journey?
A: I've loved drawing since I was little, so I think it was a natural progression. One of the most important steps to me becoming an illustrator, was initially putting my work out there and showing it to people.
Q: We're glad you did! How would you describe your style, in your own words?
A: My style is very fluid. I enjoy creating character-based work. I like to analyse people in real life, which helps me pack personality into my illustrations.
Q: Your line up of characters is really inclusive - which we love. What is your dream project?
A: I love storytelling, so my dream project would be something with a lot of narrative to it. Whether it's a picture book or campaign; it needs to have a really strong and impactful message.
Q: What was it about Illo Agency that felt like the right fit for you?
A: I'm proud to be represented by Illo because of their ethos and what they stand for. I love seeing diverse artists. It's all very positive - so I'm happy to be a part of it.
Q: We're happy to have you! Happy New Year! What's your New Year's resolution for 2019?
A: I want to pursue more of the stuff that I love. That includes work, as well as other opportunities. I want to create a lot of art this year and explore all the creative possibilities that come my way!
