“One bed, two blankets:.." Mariana Ardanaz's Clay Creation for The Washington Post
How was you night? Here’s something interestng that was explored by the HOME & GARDEN section of The Washington Post that promises to help you have a better night sleep - two people share a bed but use separate covers! The title of this piece? “One bed, two blankets: We put the Scandinavian sleep method to the test” And to support it...
Mariana Ardanaz was asked by The Washington Post to create one of her fun, very unique clay composition for their article. It’s such a joy to watch Mariana’s process; she essentially creates two artworks, one in 2D and one in 3D.
Below I’ve quoted what the client had to say….
“Mariana, that is absolutely extraordinary, I am speechless. Everybody in the team loved it. I don’t know how you do it. The characters, the cat, the dog, the painting of the checks on the blanket, every single detail. This is astonishing.”
Jose Soto, The Washington Post

Mariana Ardanaz is an illustrator from Punta Lara, a small town near the river in Argentina. She studied Arts at the Fine Arts University in La Plata, Buenos Aires. This allowed her to discover a technique that is nowadays her channel of expression: plasticine/ clay art. Not only it gives her the opportunity to draw, paint, and especially model, but most importantly, it connects her to a practice she will never give up: playing! Mariana has illustrated many children's books, magazines, and also made characters and scenery for animated films.
