mama-ooooooh

mama ... ooOoooh!

Spring has sprung! The change of seasons brings a fresh bloom of new artwork to mark Mothering Sunday, which fell on Sunday the 31st of March.

The publishing industry is filled with Marvellous Mums who leap from story pages and into our fondest memories of literature

Molly Weasley from JK Rowling's Harry Potter ...

Marmee in Little Women by Louisa May Alcott ...

Mrs Large in Jill Murphy's Five Minutes Peace ...

Marigold in The Illustrated Mum by Jacqueline Wilson

These are just some of the memorable mothers from our most beloved books.

Our Illo Agency artists have been curating creative content to mark the occasion. The result is some loveable artwork; accessible to young readers and parents alike.

No two Mothers are the same - and we hope this collection of Mother's Day artwork recognises a range of beautifully unique illustrated mums.

We're completely in love with the detail in Clara Anganuzzi's Peruvian fabric. At the end of another working week, we're also wishing that we could be as bundled up and cosy as this little fella!

A sweet scene from Alicia Mas that captures childhood memories. We don't seem to remember our mothers being this gentle when brushing our hair as kids ... thank God for the invention of the humble Tangle Teezer.

Dunni Mustapha has previously used her vector art for large infographic projects. However, this graphic style is also capable of capturing real sentiment and emotion between a mother and daughter.

Happy Mother's Day to all those Grandmother's that made us and raised us! Accessible to a mass commercial audience, Felicia Whaley's children's work is endearing to both young and old readers alike!

Ina Cardoso enjoys working elements of her Brazilian culture and into her children's publishing work. This street scene is cooking up something tasty and homemade that works up our appetite!

Even in the Addams Family, Mothers always have their children's best interests at heart! Zafouoko Yamomota may not be embracing the turn of Spring, but that doesn't stop her marking the annual celebration of Mothering Sunday in her own special way.

Will some of these characters be commissioned to become the next generation of illustrated mums?  If you would like to collaborate, then our team of illustration agents can help project manage your latest commission. You can reach our team at [email protected]
