Circle Yuen's "Our Dance" at NACCC's AGM

We're delighted to share that Illo's very own author and illustrator, Circle Yuen, was one of the speakers at the recent National Association of Child Contact Centres (NACCC) Annual General Meeting and Conference. Her participation and the incredible reception of her debut book, Our Dance: Living Apart, Time Together, mark a significant milestone in her work as a creator championing social change.

The AGM brought together over 150 delegates, including NACCC members, partners, and front-line professionals who work directly with families. It was a vital event celebrating the essential work of child contact centres across the UK.

Circle was invited to present her pioneering picture book, which she developed in collaboration with the NACCC and independent publisher, Graffeg. The book is the first UK picture book to introduce children to the concept of child contact centres. It thoughtfully explores themes of family change, co-parenting, and how these centres help children maintain relationships with their parents after separation. Her presentation was met with an overwhelmingly positive response; the NACCC team described her talk as the "stand-out session of the event." The impact on professionals was immediate, with many purchasing multiple copies for their centres, schools, and communities.

This direct recognition from the community she serves not only validates the importance of Circle's work but also showcases her extraordinary ability to handle complex subjects through art. Her work provides a bridge for children experiencing family changes, helping them to find comfort and understanding.
