Circle Yuen's Our Dance Longlisted for the Klaus Flugge Prize 2026

We’re thrilled to share that Our Dance, written and illustrated by the talented Circle Yuen, has been longlisted for the Klaus Flugge Prize 2026. This prestigious UK award celebrates the most exciting debut picture book illustrators.

Our Dance is a moving story about separation and the special places that help parents and children connect, created in collaboration with the National Association of Child Contact Centres (NACCC).

Circle shared some words on what this prize means to her:

"This book is my whole heart on paper, and being longlisted for the Klaus Flugge Prize is a beautiful landmark. But to me, the true power of this recognition lies in the connection it creates.

My greatest hope is that it helps carry 'Our Dance' further into schools and libraries, so that a child might pull this book from a shelf and think: 'Oh, there’s someone like me.' If this story can comfort a family through just one difficult night, and remind them that closeness isn't only measured by the hours spent together, then that is true success to me."
