Hello, I'm Yuki Uebo, a Tokyo based illustrator whose vibrant works celebrate the bustling energy and colorful chaos of urban life. Inspired by the lively streets and diverse characters of cities I encounter, my illustrations aim to bring to life the everyday interactions and stories that unfold across vibrant urban environments. With a keen eye for detail and a passion for capturing realistic expressions, my playful artworks invite viewers to recognize familiar faces and moments in a whimsical yet relatable way. I was born and raised in Tokyo, but I studied in London at the Royal College of Art. Living abroad made me realize that many Japanese customs and cultural elements I had taken for granted are actually unique and fascinating. The insights I gained in London about Japanese culture have influenced my illustrations, giving them a sense of playfulness and distinctiveness.

Over the years, I have garnered recognition for my work, receiving prestigious honours such as the World Illustration Awards. From solo exhibitions in Kyoto to collaborations with global publications like Forbes and The Atlantic, as well as projects that highlight Japanese culture, my illustrations have appeared across various platforms and media, including It's Nice That and Creative Boom, resonating with audiences worldwide.

My love for illustration stems from a childhood immersed in art, thanks to my mother’s influence as a picture book illustrator. Drawing inspiration from exhibitions, architecture, and everyday encounters, I strive to capture the essence of human connection and warmth in my work. As I continue to sketch scenes from daily life and infuse them with playful expressions, my hope is to leave a lasting impact as an artist who not only reflects the energy of the world around us but also spreads joy and connection through illustration.
