Thanh Vu was born in Ho Chi Minh city, Vietnam. Growing up with manga and comics, he wanted to be a mangaka or comic artist, even though those were not professional careers in Vietnam at the time. So, he pursued his BA in Graphic Design instead and worked as a part-time graphic designer with a special passion for drawing. Quickly after that, passion replaced profession. Vu decided to make illustration his main career and found time for his own comics. His childhood dream came true and expanded even further. He believes that although drawing is wordless art, it can tell countless hidden stories and his job is to find the right way to tell those stories through strokes and colors. Currently, Vu is an illustrator and graphic novelist full-time. He won the New Talent Prize of the BIBF Ananas Illustration Awards in 2019 and has been selected for the shortlist of the Folio Book Illustration Award in 2022.
