Toby Melville-Brown

Toby Melville-Brown is an illustrator based in medieval Rye, UK. His drawings and animations are celebrations of places, either through intricate depictions of architecture or transportive maps.

Toby has worked across a variety of fields, including sport, fashion and real estate. Throughout his 10+ year career, his clients have included Wimbledon Tennis Championships, Burberry and the Crown Estate.

Between commissions, Toby creates maps of his own, mapping the symbols of cities. This process requires days of joyous research, ambling the streets and photographing signage, graffiti and motifs. The results are then drawn onto large concertina folded sheets. The maps epitomize Toby’s love of cities and the stories found within them.
