Rachel Ortas

Hi, I’m Rachel Ortas, an illustrator born in Majorca and raised in a bohemian artist family in Paris. I studied at Central Saint Martins and later taught at UAL. Inspired by the whimsical worlds of the Moomins and Miyazaki, I explore imaginary worlds, emotions, and humour through digital art, silkscreen, and risograph printing. I created Messy Monster for Okido in 2007, Messy Monster became the lead in the BBC series Messy Goes to OKIDO, where I also designed the characters. I previously worked with Tate, Design Museum, Postal Museum, Science Museum, Imperial College, Wellcome Trust, Hato Press, Latitude Festival, Imagine Festival, Wagamama, Magma.
