Zac ’n’ Jac illustrated by Monique Steele is a Middle Grade book by Cathy Jenkins
Cadno, Welsh for ‘fox’, is an imprint of Graffeg Publishing focusing on Middle Grade and YA books in English with uniquely Welsh content.
Aware of an already congested category, their head-up sales and new business Howard believes the Welsh connection serves as a clear point of difference. “There isn’t a huge amount of material originating in Wales, based in Wales or that showcases what Wales is as a place and a community,” he says from the indie’s main distribution and fulfilment site in Llanelli, Carmarthenshire. Graffeg looks to publish 12 Cadno titles per year, which, Howard hopes, “establishes Wales as the true home of good writing and great storytelling”.
Released on October 1st 2024, Zac ’n’ Jac is a debut Middle Grade book by Welsh author Cathy Jenkins that tackles racism in football and families.
About the magical illustrator!….Jamaican-born illustrator Monique Steele currently resides in the small pocket of reality in-between time and space. A digital artist, her work normally consists of bright colours, and strong line work and features subjects such as empowered women in history, fun adventures, and magic. When she’s not drawing famous Queens in history or women in elaborate gowns you can find her deeply mired in the comings and goings of pop culture, exploring mystical new worlds in literature, and lamenting no longer living the “island girl” lifestyle while (still) attempting to refine her spicy foods palette.
She also has some brilliant comic book pitches, that we’d love to share in you’re interested! If you’d like more info, please contact: [email protected]
