Flowerblock illustrated by Giang shortlisted for the Jhalak Children’s YA Prize

We were so excited to see this book recognised, wait shortlisted! for such an important award! Many congrats to Hoang Giang and Lanisha Butterfield and Keren Greenfeld from Puffin/ Penguin Publishing Group. Congrats to all the other authors/illustrator shortlisted. 

First awarded in March 2017, the Jhalak Prize awards seek to celebrate books by writers of colour in the UK and Ireland. In 2020, the single award was bifurcated to create a dedicated Jhalak Children’s YA Prize.

In case you weren’t already aware, Flower Block is a glorious celebration of the power of nature to bring communities together, from talented debut author Lanisha Butterfield and illustrator Hoang Giang.
