Colombia-based artist Ana Paula Santander has joined Illo Agency
We are very happy to announce that Ana Paula Santander has joined Illo Agency. Ana based in Bogota Colombia, has more than ten years of experience, receiving cultural, academic and corporate commissions for editorials/ books within engineering and educational fields. When did you start illustrating?
I started to illustrate at 14 simulating drawings of the magazine for children.
Who has been the most supportive in your illustration career, perhaps your teacher, family, friends?
The most supportive in my career has been the publishing house Alfaomega. They published all my illustrations for seven years.
Did you always think art was something that was going to be a major part of your life?
Yes, I dreamed of that when I was a child, but I would think this will be not possible.
What is your favourite subject matter to illustrate?
I like to illustrate daily life topics as everyday situations in the street or labor situations.
How would you describe your style?
My illustrations are full of colours, characters without malignant, and including something with humor without irony.
What is your favourite collaboration to date?
The collaboration with Alfaomega publishing house has been rewarding because we have got a warm reception from the readers.
What interested you about being represented by Illo Agency?
I would like to work abroad, and I see in your experience a great opportunity to do it.
Do you have a favourite author, film director, or designer?
I like authors as Robert Musil, Giani Rodari, kluge. Designers as Paul Rand and Saul Steinberg.
Are you working on any personal projects you can share with us?
I have two personal works, first is a little book about the uncommon uses of an umbrella, the second one is a glimpse into the formal and informal jobs based on the human-traction vehicle. (you can see on my web page, section "special projects”)
