Hello there, I'm Nazlı Tarcan, an artist originally from İstanbul now living in Namur, Belgium with my husband and our lively bunch of pets. My illustrations are a modern twist on vintage art, filled with intricate details that blend nostalgia and mischief. Drawing inspiration from traditional mediums like gouache and collage, I aim to capture the essence of old-world charm in a digital format. My love for grandmas, soft yet slightly wicked characters, and a touch of Mediterranean essance all find their way into my whimsical creations.

Formerly a circus artist, I've carried over the vibrancy of that lifestyle into my art, known for organizing lively events and donning glittery costumes. While proud of my Turkish heritage, I strive to break new ground in the kidlit industry with a unique perspective on everyday life. My work ethic and ability to infuse characters with personality and humor have earned me praise from art directors, making my illustrations stand out for their ambiance and charm.

Surrounded by inspirations like my mother and grandmother, old cartoons, and childhood books, I find joy in researching and immersing myself in relevant movies and books before diving into a new project. Balancing work with family/friends time and gardening in the warmer months, I cherish Sundays as a time to unwind with loved ones. With a son, pets, and a deep-rooted passion for storytelling, my art reflects a blend of cultural influences, personal experiences, and a touch of playful whimsy.
