Marylou Chalon

Hello, my name is Marylou Chalon, and I'm a book illustrator based in Rennes. Growing up in a small countryside, I found my passion for creating digital illustrations, with my trusty iPad always by my side. My heart belongs to crafting cute and imaginative pieces for children, whether it's in picture books, activities, or designing adorable toys. Sketching is my therapy, I also collect mugs from ceramists and cool stuff from artists.

One of the highlights of my career was hosting an exhibition where kids interacted with a giant garden made of magnets, bringing my artwork to life through play. Achieving my dream of creating books fills me with pride, and I eagerly await the moment they come to life in print. With a background in graphic design and art, color matching, simplicity, and bold concepts are my strengths, although battling self-criticism after studying in a less nurturing environment can be challenging. My creative process involves sketching freely, refining compositions digitally, experimenting with color combinations, and perfecting every detail.

My childhood was full of DIY and art and crafts books, I will always remember the pride of making the coolest creations from toilet paper rolls. I find inspiration in the simple beauty of daily routines and the tranquility of home. Kindness defines my approach not only in art but in life, and you can often find me at home, enjoying the calm of puzzles. With a heart full of creativity and a soul brimming with kindness, I am on a mission to spread joy through my whimsical creations, making the world a little brighter one illustration at a time.
