Marta Taylor

Marta Taylor grew up barefoot in rural New Zealand and is now based on the Mediterranean coast near Barcelona. Her vibrant illustrations, sprinkled with quirky imperfection, aim to spark joy and imagination through cute characters who always find themselves in a pickle, bringing laughter and whimsy to children and adults alike. With a focus on picture books, Marta aspires to ignite a love for reading and drawing in children's minds, encouraging them to pick up a crayon and say, "I can draw that, too!"

She is the author and illustrator of Grandma's Odd Socks, published by Wacky Bee Books in 2022 and winner of the FAPA Award in 2023. Known for her expressive characters, bold colour choices, and imaginative worlds, clients value her ability to infuse humour and wonder into every story. Marta approaches each project instinctively, translating initial ideas onto paper to shape whimsical worlds brimming with unique personalities. Her work aims to transport readers to imaginative and quirky realms, offering a joyous escape for all who encounter them.

Inspired by David Attenborough, Hayao Miyazaki, and French comics, Marta has cultivated a style that blends nature, fantasy, and playful charm. Drawing inspiration from nature, graphic novels, and her travels, she fills her art with bold colours, a touch of humour, and imaginative storytelling. When not immersed in illustration, Marta enjoys early morning walks, baking cakes, and curling up with a good book and a cup of hot chocolate.
