Ema Ferreira

Hi, I’m Ema Ferreira, a Portuguese artist currently based in London, working across illustration and animation. I studied at The Glasgow School of Artand Pratt Institute in New York and am passionate about children’s literature and crafting imaginative universes featuring vibrant, otherworldly characters who may appear strange or intimidating at first, but ultimately reveal warmth and complexity. In 2021, I was commissioned by the poet Hollie McNish to create the animated short film “the morning after” which has been screened at several festivals across Scotland. My children’s book Moon Tales was shortlisted for the Batsford Prize and recently adapted for Kurio magazine.

When I'm not drawing, I love to take care of my big plant family, play boardgames or get lost in the children’s book section.
