Cabbi Charles

Hey there, I'm Cabbi Charles, an artist based in the UK who finds joy in creating with pencil, watercolor, and digital tools like Procreate. My art also includes exploring textures through mono prints and gel plates. I'm passionate about showcasing the beauty and vibrancy of black and brown cultures in my work. Growing up in London, has influenced my art, whether capturing urban landscapes or the tranquility of escaping to the countryside or sea.

I also write and have had a picture book manuscript shortlisted and won spots on writing courses for middle-grade books. In 2024, I was commissioned to be the resident illustrator for the Jericho Prize, who are dedicated to empowering underrepresented children's book writers. With a background in education and a recent completion of a specialized course in children\'s publishing, I infuse my projects with authentic experiences and a deep commitment to diversity and inclusion. Sketchbooks are my playground, where ideas come to life through a mix of rough sketches, varied media, and collage techniques.

Since childhood, images, have been a lifelong fascination, with hours spent poring over books studying every detail in photos and drawings across all subjects. Nature, whether in a park or by the sea, also fuels my creativity and offers a refreshing perspective on living in a busy city. When not creating, you'll find me enjoying the time with friends or cozying up indoors watching quiz shows. As a parent, life is never dull and I try to capture some that energy in my illustrations.
